The process for transferring a domain in to Hostko is different depending on the domain’s extension.
Transfering .com .net .org .biz .info .us and other domains
.com .org .net and other non-country-specific domains are called gTLDs (generic Top Level Domains).
Transferring gTLDs into Hostko requires that several steps are completed correctly, otherwise, the transfer will fail. Please read this guide carefully to avoid problems.
Preparing your domain for transfer away from the existing registrar.
The first thing to do is to log into your existing domain registrar’s control panel, and prepare your domain for transfer. These are the steps you must complete:
- Ensure that the domain is UNLOCKED
- Obtain the EPP code (also sometimes called the authorisation code or transfer key)
- Check the domains contacts and ensure that you are able to receive an email at the Administrative Contact email address for the domain. If you change the contact details the domain may be locked for 60 days – see the warning above. If this happens you will not be able to complete the transfer until after that time.
- Ensure any domain privacy service is turned off – this could cause emails not be received by the Administrative contact
If any of the above steps are not completed, the transfer cannot complete.
